Points are earned through playing in events supported by the NNGA. There are multiple division that you are able to earn points throughout the year. Each tournament you will select the division that you will compete in to receive and accrue points. NOTE: Players are able to change their division between events and start collecting points in their newly selected division at that date.
NNGA REGULAR MEN'S DIVISONS
Regular Men's Tournaments will have two divisions: Scratch and Net. Golfers must decide if they want to compete in the Scratch or Net Division prior to the start of the event.
We will award points for NNGA Events, Nevada State Events, and USGA Events. Points will be awarded in the appropriate division for the event played.
NNGA SENIOR MEN'S DIVISONS
Senior Men's Tournaments are have four divisions: Senior Scratch, Senior Net, Silver Senior, and Gold Senior.
Senior Scratch and Senior Net golfers must be 50 years of age or older on the first date of the event. Golfers eligible for the Senior Divisions may still choose to play in the Regular Men's Scratch or Regular Men's Net Divisions. Golfers must decide if they want to compete in the Senior Scratch or Senior Net Division prior to the start of the event.
Silver Senior golfers must be 60 years of age or older on the first date of the event. Golfers eligible for the Silver Senior Division may still choose to play in the Regular Men's Scratch, Regular Men's Net, Senior Scratch or Senior Net Divisions. Golfers in the Silver Division will compete for both Net and Scratch over the field in the divison.
The Silver Senior Division is primarily a NET division and, as such, there will be a Net/Scratch Bias for the results. For example; If a golfer wins both the Net and Scratch competition, the golfer will be awarded First Place Net and the golfer who is second in the scratch competition will be awarded First Place Scratch.
For Purse payout; we will pay 1/3 of the field with one (1) Scratch Payout and the remaining purse awarded to the Net Payout.
For Points we will award the top 5 Scratch Golfers in each event and the top 15 Net Golfers in each event. Golfers can earn both Scratch Points and Net Points in the same event.
Gold Senior golfers must be 70 years of age or older on the first date of the event. Golfers eligible for the Gold Senior Division may still choose to play in the Regular Men's Scratch, Regular Men's Net, Senior Scratch, Senior Net or Silver Divisions.Golfers in the Gold Division will compete in a Net competion only. Points will be awarded to the Gold Divison for the sole purpose of awarding a Gold Division Player of the Year.
We will award points for NNGA Events, Nevada State Events, and USGA Events. Points will be awarded in the appropriate division for the event played.

WHAT ARE POINTS USED FOR?
Player of the Year:
Each of the divisions listed above will have a Player of the Year Awarded. The Player of the Year will be the person with the most points accrued throughout the events in that calendar year.
Team and Individual Competitions:
We will use the points earned in the different divisions for golfers to earn spots on different team and individual competitions. Below is a listing of the events that you may be able to qualify for:
PACIFIC COAST AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP (Individual - Regular Men's Scratch)
This event takes place every year.
LOCATION: 2024 - 57th Pacific Coast Amateur Championship, Chamber Bay, University, WA
Total of three (3) players qualify. Pacific Coast Points are listed on the website. The final point’s event for qualifying will be the set according to the calendar. See website for scheduled time and place.

BROOKS PARK CUP MATCHES (Team - Men's Scratch)
This event takes place every year.
LOCATION: Edgewood-Tahoe Golf Course (Stateline, NV).
Total of twelve (12) players qualify each year. *The top 11 players from the Regular Men's Scratch Division points list plus the Senior Men's Scratch Player of the Year qualify.
The twelve person team from the NNGA will compete against a twelve person team of PGA Professionals from the Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Northern California PGA. The Brooks Park Cup Matches take place at the beginning of October at Edgewood-Tahoe Golf Course. This two day event is conducted in a "Ryder Cup" Style format. The format for Day 1 is Modified Foursome Matches. Day two is played in two formats at the same time; both Four-Ball Matches and Individual Matches are played concurrently.
The Northern Nevada Amateur Championship will be the final event to earn points for the Brooks Park Cup Matches.
*Each player must play in at least three events to qualify.
HAASE WHALEN CUP MATCHES (Team - Men's Net)
This event takes place every year.
LOCATION: Toiyabe Golf Club (Washoe City, NV).
Total of twelve (12) players qualify each year. *The top 9 from the Regular Men's Net Division points list, the Senior Men's Net Player of the Year, the Silver Senior Scratch Player of the Year and Siler Senior Net Player of the Year qualify.
The twelve person team from the NNGA will compete against a twelve person team of PGA Professionals from member clubs of the NNGA. The Haase Whalen Cup Matches take place at the end of September at Plumas Pines Golf Course. This single day, 27-hole event is conducted in a "Ryder Cup" Style format. The format for the first nine holes is Four-Ball Matches. The format for the second nine holes is Foursome Matches. The format for the third nine holes is Individual Matches.
The Northern Nevada Amateur Championship will be the final event to earn points for the Haase Whalen Cup Matches.
*Each player must play in at least three events to qualify.
COBB-WHALEN CUP MATCHES (Team - Regular Men's Net)
This event takes place every two years.
LOCATION: Northern Nevada and Southern Nevada altenate hosting the event.

Total of twelve (12) players qualify each tournament year. *The top 12 players from the Regular Men's Net Division points list will qualify.
The twelve person team from the NNGA will compete against a twelve person team from the Souther Nevada Golf Association. The two associations take turns hosting the Cobb Whalen Cup Matches which take place every other year. This three day event is conducted in a "Ryder Cup" Style format. The first day of the event there is a practice round and a formal dinner to officially open the event and draw the pairings for the first round matches. On the second day in the morning the format is Four-Ball Matches and in the afternoon the format is Foursome Matches. The format for the third day is Individual Matches.
Points will be earned for the full two year period between the events and DOUBLE POINTS will be awarded starting one year prior to the point cut-off for the event.
The point cut-off for the event will be 30 days prior to the event date when hosted in the North.
The point cut-off for the event will be 60 days prior to the event date when hosted in the South to allow for travel plans.
*Each player must play in at least five total events during the overall qualifying period in order to qualify for the team.
THE LOU OLIVER CUP MATCHES (Team - Senior Men's)
This event takes place every two years.
LOCATION: Northern Nevada and Southern Nevada altenate hosting the event.
